okay, I am assuming you only need to change the name, there is no need to keep reposting your entire roster again everytime. I will update the name and you can check the official team rosters thread to check for accuracy.

I like that you're trying to keep dummies out, but it only takes 2 people to conspire in order to execute a successful dummy, and the people that dummy are a long-established club. Shared accounts are the actual vector, but with custom location proxies and dynamic IPs, the only genuine way to stop dummying is having the host check MACs, which is a pain, and assumes the account was legitimate when initially created.

I do like the eyeball test for performance, though.

I am aware of the impossibility of perfectly keeping dummies out. I am not trying to necessarily do that. I certainly wouldn't put that much effort into it. But at least I can force them to waste more time and effort in order to do it. And if they are such losers to put that much care into it, then they can knock themselves out with it to their heart's content for all I care.

The good news is that almost every rampant dummier also happens to not be that good at the game, so they have a negligible impact despite their best efforts. And if some random unknown name, or known mediocre name, all of a sudden started playing at a 5 ball level, they would be easily snuffed out since only a few players could play at such a level.

"Mahir" is a completely new player who got the myth download from me and contacted me from youtube/reddit/discord. I think it's funny he's actually stuck around with our group of meatheads and has found his way onto a MWC team. His team would be stupid to give him more than a few units anyway, if he plays "3-4 ball" enough to get banned I'm going to feel as a proud father would.

Meanwhile that Teng dude is likely the same dude who changes his name every year. Not sure if its RZA but I think that player is the same one as "Coca-Cola" in 2016. Could be wrong.

Somebody handed me a penny for my thoughts. I don't know what the current situation of Myth is, but I'm assuming it's not too dandy. I think you could have a more successful tournament if you would just do a kickball with pre-set captains style of a tournament instead of this. The first team registered already stacked itself with like half of the relatively active good players left. Nobody should be that interested in winning anymore to actually form stacked teams instead of trying to spread out the talent more evenly. This already deters people away as many people don't like joining punching bag teams at this day and age. We're at a point where the game only lives during tournaments (and by that I literally mean during the games of the tournament), so I'd say the most important thing would have been to get as many people and have an enjoyable tournament for everyone. I think accomplishing that would have been more likely with kickball.

That being said, I hope the best of luck for this tournament and that everyone will enjoy it. That way we can have more tournaments in the future so the community won't die off untill the inevitable situation where PunkUser pulls the plug.

Re: MWC 2017 Team Registration

I liked the pre-set style of captains tournament, which is why we had a super funky primary/secondary roster system that allowed players to play for more than one captain/core during the course of the previous MWC. This lead to more teams and matches for the tournament, and freedom for the player to play for whoever they want rather than be chained down to a single team and face potential penalty to play for more than one team. Yet on the flip side some people didn't like it for a multitude of their own reasons.

I feel if someone or some people have the ability to gather players that want to play with them and are down for their trades/strategies, let em build a gathering to go to battle with then. At the same time, The outline details the event on 6v6 cores, and each of the teams have at least 10 players to bring to the table. One could literally field double the teams by requiring a clean 6 player roster maximum across the board, but I suppose everyone gauges their measurement of 'tournament success' in their own personal ways.
To flip that captains' aura notion, as well as doubling teams, to your kickball pre-set captains format, all one do is pick 8 captains (or ask/pressure them to step up). Here's my nominated 8 - gkg, asmo, ratking, limp, zak, tirri, lso, myself. I'd gladly bow out to be a player if THOR would cop my spot. It's funny, that already sounds more exciting to me than this 4 team affair that will be MWC2017.

I think pre-set captains style tournament would be an interesting take on the game's life, but probably not for MWC2017 as it's pretty apparent there will be no major changes to the tournament structure as it has been presented to the public and participants. Myth has currently adopted a seasonal trend with organized events, it would be great to see someone pursue this in the future. Maybe you could consider it when you had some free time, I'm sure Seeker would love to do the dirty work for you. :)

I don't think there has been a major overhaul of accounts or passwords since prior to TSO. You had an account for that, same pw/login should work...

I just wanted to be angry! It's really fucky if you accidentally sign out of GoS, because as far as I can tell, you have to reset your pw via Steam, and there's no way to do so via the GoS site.

To grim's point, if it wouldn't wreck my weekend, I would host a kickball tournament, with games taking place immediately after mwc matches. But there's no way I'll want to play 4+ hours straight unless it's raining.

if you accidently sign out of GoS, you use the same password steam provided before. if you forgot it, you just use gateofstorms.net/accounts and sign back into steam and it will display the same pw info. The only time I saw that password change was not when I initiated it, but when PunkUser did that huge database overhaul so everyone's password changed (and some chose to just create a new account than recover their new pw).

IGNORE everything I've typed sinced I added Seeker.
My roster is real huge, didn't intend it to be that way.
I have 16 ppl, and if this is supposed to a 6v6 then I think that's a little too many.
Don't expect 3 or 4 of them to show much anyways.

To insure that most ppl get playing time, will you remove the following:

I welcome the 4th team since it looks like the garnish team is not going to work out too well. And if this 4th team works then we have 4 fairly competitive teams (despite some people's panties getting in a bunch about stacked rosters and draft formats). However, there is some clusterfuckery here with a bunch of people who are already registered on other teams. I need everyone that is registered on this new team, but was already registered on another team (rat's, LSO's, or mine) to confirm themselves either here in the forums or directly to me in the lobby if they are switching to this new team.

If this doesn't get sorted out in time, have this roster show up at the 2pm eastern fallback (both matches should end up at that time) and we will sort it out then.

wwo - did you try clicking the account tab from the GoS site to retrieve your old password? Just have to sign into steam again and it re-directs you to a page with your username and password. Shouldn't be an issue unless you are losing your steam password.

I just confirmed with Cruniac that he will be playing on my team, not limp's, so you can count him out of your roster.

I will give you Gekko though just because he said he wasn't going to play anyway. I only added him to give him a fallback in case he did show because he is a top mazzer as well. I wouldn't count on him to show up though unless you contacted him and he said otherwise.

ok that's fine, he probably won't show anyway.

I still need confirmations from wwo, trev, and ruin about which team they prefer to play on. I need to see those confirmations myself directly from them.

I don't need confirmation from zak, rab, and tirri since I know them well enough that I am confident they would prefer to play for this new roster unless they tell me otherwise.

I will put homer on your team as well since he posted as a free agent.

LSO - just so you know, you lost several of your players to limp's roster, and you may also be losing wwo depending on what he decides.

And rat's team - just so you know, you may be losing trev and/or ruin depending on what they decide.

If any of this is wrong, then I need confirmation from those players directly about which team they prefer to play on.

Otherwise, your rosters are leaner now. If you want to add more, there are tons of other players out there if help is still needed. Rawr is one of them, who wants him?

Final team rosters have been updated with major changes. Everyone please check them again to ensure accuracy. Wwo, trev, and ruin are on 2 teams currently, I need them to confirm which they prefer.

I am having this new team (animal kingdom 47) replacing the berserker team. So animal kingdom please schedule your match against LSO's team in the scheduling thread.

The berserker team only had a couple players that actually registered. Their players will be delegated to a sub list now instead unless they can find a spot on one of the 4 current teams.

GKG

you are just gonna let seeker/akira post one post and just assume players went to their team?

The only player from my team that is leaving is Zak as of now.

wwo, rabican, and tirri are still on my roster

Also, if you haven't done so yet,

Seeker (of course)
and mahir need to be removed

also wtf just removing garnishes, team
had to squeeze an answer out of him and it changed twice from sat to sun so his roster could show up, and it would've. so ive told my players 2 different things reconfirmed and now you are going to replace his team to schedule again 5 days from the match?

LSO, that does not tell me that you have spoken with those players either to hear directly from them what they want to do. Did you talk to wwo, rabican, and tirri in the last few days since this roster was formed to confirm they are staying? If not, you are just as guilty in this situation.

If you want to contest the changes, then let's hear from the players directly. Ultimately every player can decide what team they want to play for - you, seeker, or I have no say regardless. But I think you are going to be unpleasantly surprised once you do talk to those people. In any case, we have plenty of time to hear from those players directly to sort this out. Go talk to them, not me.

I have already made those updates to your team roster, you need to check the official team rosters post.

Garnish's team was cobbled together as a backup plan and there was almost 0 progress in getting it organized in the 1.5 weeks I have been gone for. Only 2-3 players from that roster even signed up as free agents, and none of the players, including the ones I signed up myself, showed any enthusiasm for showing up for that team roster (remember I had to volunteer to captain and get other good volunteers to even give it a chance of showing up). It is unfortunate that this had to happen while I was gone so I couldn't handle this situation better as it was going down in real time, but it is what it is.

While this is certainly less than perfect circumstances, it doesn't change the fact that this is absolutely the best option we can do at this point. Keeping garnish's team means keeping a team that is very likely to forfeit over the next 3 weeks, that we will need heavy subbing to give their opponents someone to fight against, and all the while it maintains overbloated rosters for both your team and rat's team. Now the rosters are leaned out so there will be less sitting, we have 4 competitive teams instead of 3, and we don't have to constantly babysit a 4th team as a placeholder.

We have 5 full days still, plenty of time to sort this out, just talk to your players again.

Seeker/limp/akira, please tell me who you have spoken with recently as well so we can get this sorted out about which team people want to be on. LSO might be contesting rabican and tirri as well now, so we need to get that settled.

not exactly a ringing endorsement, but okay, thank you. Rab stays on LSO's team. Every player can change teams until Friday, June 16 as well in case anyone changes their mind later between now and then. But I need proof directly from the players themselves of any decisions to change teams.

ok so I am taking it that wwo is staying on LSO's team then as well.

Seeker / zak/ limp/ akira, what is going on with your team? Looks like we do need confirmation from tirri then as well.

You might be right wwo, but they still look more legit than the berserker team that was destined to forfeit. If we can get 4 people from this animal kingdom team to show up and add a couple subs, that still looks better than what was likely to happen with the berserkers.

Okay seeker, they are all added, but the likelihood of homer showing is small, of ghengis showing is miniscule, and of gekko showing is basically non-existent.

At this point, I am keeping trev and ruin on their respective teams since I don't think anyone even talked to them. I can change them when they give confirmation themselves.

Garnish, I know I gave up your team's spot, but if your guys still want to play, have them show at the 2pm eastern time this sunday and there might be room to play still since animal kingdom is showing some cracks in their story. I am really just trying to prevent a forfeit here. We can settle it then. Maybe the team that shows with the most players should get the spot.
