Re: Myth Strategy

Wow so now FFA is uninteresting because GKG doesn't like/isn't good at it? *sigh* Uhh no one said that. What *was* said is that FFA is more complex to analyze because it has far more "soft" factors involved, so it's uninteresting/unrelated to the context of this discussion. No one is sayi...

Re: Myth Strategy

If it would be true on Gimble couldnt it also hold true on big 2 team maps? I think Creep is just a large scale Gimble CTF 1v1 basically. The same Unit Set/Strategy styles that applied to Gimble CTF 1v1 should apply to Creep. Like I said I could be wrong but it make sense to me. I don't think that'...

Re: You were not better 10 years ago

I don't think I actually disagree with anything you said there really LN. I was speaking more to the concept of "counter-trades", which I'm just not convinced really exist in any sort of viable way in Myth. Beyond that, yeah definitely trade isn't everything and player skill and team syner...

Re: Myth II HD Coming Soon!

Win XP and I've updated in the last few months. I didn't have multicore enabled, but it doesn't fix the problem. I'm using OpenGL, I don't see the option for DirectX, only software and direct3d. Right you need Vista+ for DX10/11. The fps also drops when I use the screen edges. When I keep the camer...

Re: Myth II HD Coming Soon!

Weird, at 200fps you should definitely have no issues with vsync. What OS? Have you updated your video drivers recently? Long shot, but try enabling Use Multicore in preferences if you haven't already. If you're on Windows, does it happen both with DirectX 10/11 and OpenGL? The minimap thing definit...

Re: Myth II HD Coming Soon!

What frame rate are you getting with vsync off (press delete, use FRAPS, etc)? If you're not hitting 60 consistently then indeed you can get some choppiness with it on, as I mentioned. In that case you can either leave vsync on and set Max FPS to 30 (assuming you can consistently hit that) or disabl...

Re: You were not better 10 years ago

I don't know how a game will play out, which is why I'm skeptical that a "best" trade can exist. The same thing struck a nerve when I read GKGs article last year (or whenever it was he posted it) as well, but I've softened on it a bit lately after participating in and observing a few more...

Re: Myth II HD Coming Soon!

turn up the MAX FPS and choose and Screen res that isnt roo crazy if you have a slower computer. ... Vsync also slows down things pretty well, so turn that off if you need more FPS. I'll modify that slightly... screen res usually won't make a huge difference unless you're on a very old computer, so...

Re: KB week 2 news thread

Well, punkuser..I get they are not currently supporting mnet, but maybe they would bother to make some new code if magma asked them nicely and it was for a cool new feature. Have already been in touch with them, the situation is as I stated. I also support the idea of being able to zoom out all the...

Yes, but couldn't the meta server code just be updated to support the myth 2.exe changes, as it has been in the past? Yes, but MariusNet/PPE is not in a place where they are willing to do any updates at this point. They kindly leave it running for those of us who still play Myth, but they are not r...

Re: KB week 2 news thread

If increasing the player limit in games takes a few hours to do fine. Not worth spending more time on a new feature that will see very little use. Like I said, it's probably not hard to do, but it would be a *clean* break with older metaservers, so no more MariusNet. Don't think that's worth the tr...

Re: Which is your favorite of Renwood's Myth II HD unit?

Warr needs stripe on shield I think they may have forgotten/not known to use the ray tracer for rendering/reflections instead of the default setup. Something slightly weird is also going on with the edges... they aren't properly anti-aliased like they should be. Possibly a color indexing issue (and...

Well shit, did the terries scoring rules change in 1.5 to give whoever had their maximum amount of flags most recently the win? Like I said, that's the last time the code was touched, but it's documented as a "bug fix" and not protected by a version check, so that implies either the code ...

Ok I checked the code. For reference, the current logic has been like this since 1.5.1... so for a long time. Also it is not protected by a game version check, so I'm assuming that means that previous to the additional tie-breaker logic being added that it would have just resulted in a tie or someth...

Re: Winter warm up - kb style

I thought they fixed terries scoring some patches ago so the team who tags the most flags last wins (in case of tie). I say fixed because this is how it should be. I agree that "owned most flags last" is more desirable, otherwise early rushes to grab flags are overvalued compared to actua...

For instance do you think that nothing should ever use more then 128 megs of VRAM at one time if its some form of myth content? Just now I've thought of this: use AutoHotKey to map each of the numbers keys as Alt+# so you don't have to press Alt when recalling presets. Then have formations change by pressing Alt+# (this would be harder to script but most likely possible). I think this has been mentioned elsewhere, but 1.8 h...

They are provably more secure than even random digits or common password requirements (mixed case, numbe...
